J,

“I could be wrong, but it seems to me a higher percentage of women are extroverts than men. So much so that you could over-generalize and say extroversion is a female trait, and introversion is a male trait.”

I think that particular over-generalization takes away from the discussion – whenever something gets rhetorically linked to gender, any real discussion tends to stop.

“Could the difference be that we’ve gone from a male dominated culture in 1900 (that reflected male values) to a female dominated culture in 2014 that is now reflecting female values in what society now deems to be desirable traits for both men and women?”

I think it’s more that we’ve gone from a deferential society where fitting in to the social structure was valued to one in which everyone (or at least the mainstream) is trying to get attention and their 15 minutes of fame. So we have a society of attention whores, and those who don’t play the whoring game will fall by the wayside or worse be driven out and shamed.

Leap,

“Great post. Thanks for a quick write up on unhealthy behaviors to look out for in extroverts.”

I hesitate to quibble with a compliment, but my point in the post is that the shit she lists isn’t really extrovert behavior – it’s the behavior of an insecure person who needs to be validated by getting other people to react to her. She’s kind of like Roger Rabbit, who had an insuppresable need to make people laugh.
